The Diary of a Young Girl
By Anne Frank
Review
Anne Frank was a witty, outspoken, and expressive young girl, but these traits that she is commonly labeled with are not necessarily saying negative things about her personality. Anne’s personality might be better summarized by saying that she was strong, independent, intelligent, and sophisticated, more than anything else. It is very clear to see when reading this book that many people, even some that Anne resided with, were not as able to handle the situation as well as Anne. Anne remained strong and even at times influenced others to take in the same state of mind, her strength not only affected her quality of life, but others around her and even people today. Reading this book would be a positive thing to anyone but especially to those in need of strength, Anne can reach through her pages and comfort people with her examples of strength, optimism, and sense of normality during the rough time. After reading about Anne, her life, and her view of the world, I was brought to see how strong a person can be even when placed in an unthinkably horrific and restraining situation.
When writing in her diary and simply living her life in the way that she was forced to, Anne Frank was able to find a wonderful sense of identity. In her diary Anne talks about discussing who she was before entering the Secret Annex with Peter, she described herself a silly school girl and a class clown. She then went on to explain that she was a totally different person and she liked the person that she had developed into much more. Anne was strong and felt the need to keep her feelings reserved, sometimes even from herself, Anne had nothing to drown out her feelings with when staying in the annex, forcing her to really get in touch with herself. When completely smothered with people I often seem to lose touch of who I am, and the only thing that can really make me step back and gain perspective is a little isolation. Taking out the daily fiascos helps me to really think about me and my feelings, I believe that this is also what seemed to happen to Anne.
By reading this book I have learned to look through the negative haze of a situation to find the positive future. Normally anytime you read anything about the Jews in the Holocaust you are reading about suffering and despair, but Anne Frank takes those feelings and turns them into optimism and hope for the future. When reading about Anne you become inspired by her confidence and find yourself handling situations with a totally different attitude. Optimism is always the logical answer but often with the bustle people seem to forget to think about things logically, Anne helps to remind people what is really important.

Good evening, all! Tonight I have some exciting news, a major movie is now scheduled to release in about a year. It will tell the story of a young Jewish girl named Anne Frank, whom had happily lived in Amsterdam until she and her family had to go into hiding. Anne kept a diary where she wrote down everything from what was served for dinner and how she felt about it, to D-Day and its corresponding events. The new movie that is soon to release will be based off of Anne’s diary! We all know the conditions in which Jews were forced to live in during the war, but this movie will hopefully open our eyes to see how dreadful, tiresome, and sometimes even hopeless it was to be a Jew living through the war.
